Vault Tec   All about the Kinder™
I am the CEO/Co-founder of E29 Incorporated. I've been in the software industry for ten years now, have experience in about ten different computer languages, and once wrote a 60,000 line web application in three months without caffeine. I really wouldn't want to do that again.

Ello from DC

I’m posting from, well, close to DC anyway.  Manassas to be exact.  We found a really nice apartment that I’m interested in getting.  Not only is it the right price, but the amenities are nice, and it’s close to all the shopping and restaurants.  The best part is, 20% of our rent every month goes into a fund that we can use to pay closing costs, or a % of the purchase price of a house.  I’m not a big fan of paying rent, but if you’re able to at least take a part of it, and put it towards a house, then tossing out $1100 a month hurts a bit less.

I’ll be starting work on the 20th, and hopefully be moving into this apartment around mid-March.  Until then, I’m going to stay in a hotel, then drive back to Lynchburg on the weekends to start packing up our stuff from the other apartment.

For anybody in the dark, I was contacted about 3 weeks ago by Cairo Corp, a leading DC gov’t contractor.  They initially were looking for a web developer to work on a contract in Virginia Beach, but now I’ll be working on a contract for Housing & Urban Development, in Chantilly, VA at the main office.  It’s a three year contract, and then I can move on to something else if I’d like, or I can work for a year and move on to another contract in the company.  The flexibility alone makes this job the best I’ve ever had.

I do get to keep E29, and continue working on the projects and products.  We are currently making some major changes to the site, and to our policies so that we can have a smoother operation after I start working for Cairo.  So, to our customers, don’t worry, it’ll be rocky for the first month or so, but we will be sticking to our release schedules.

One change that I do want to start talking about is custom services.  Currently, we are planning on closing custom services completely to new projects, with existing customers always having the option to open a new job if needed.  We will also continue to honor our CS support contracts until they expire.

We will be relaunching the forums soon, with announcements detailing everything.
