Moving Forward with the MUD

Yarr, Christmas break is almost over, so I’m looking to get cracking on the MUD again. Here is what we have going so far:

Title: The 13th Hour
Complete Engine with room creator, races, characters, etc
Post-Apoc storyline starting in 2112
Influenced heavily by Fallout, specifically 3

That’s basically where I want to go with the game. Something very Post-Apoc, devoid of major technology asides from electronic weaponry, very very open ended. I won’t lie either, I fucking love Fallout 3 and want to model the MUD after it. Call me a fanboy if you want :P

What I’m looking for at this point is world builders and story guides. I have a message board setup, and a Wiki for adding character data and all that fun stuff. If you want to help build the world, sign up over on Stimmlich and the Wiki and let us know that you want to help.

The MUD engine may need some modifications to handle things other than High Fantasy, but I think I can handle the mods with some help from Chris.

For the record, this is purely a personal project and won’t be funded or handled by E29.

MochaMUD

For those that know, or don’t know, Billy and I have been tossing around the MUD idea for a few years now. And for those that definitely don’t know, a MUD is a text-based role playing game.

Anyway, the idea has caught some traction and we’re actually moving ahead with the engine and game story. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a Winter alpha, Jeremy’s Journey of Souls codebase is solid and only needs a few tweaks to get running.

We have discussions going on over on Stimmlich, and a story wiki available as well for anyone that wants to chime in.
